Membership meeting and digital competition |
This will be our second digital competition. Please send images to this email address (PVNPexec@gmail.com) by Tuesday August 24, 4PM so that your images can be included in the competition. Please see the link to the right for preparing images.
During the tallying of the votes we will do a Q/A session regarding cameras, lenses, techniques, software etc from the audience. Bring your questions and lets all learn. If you have a burring question please email it to the same address above so that we can research it and get the best info too you that we can.

Jim and Carson Clark |
Carson will show his program “Buddy, Dad, and Me: A Journey of Discovery,” which he has given to audiences around the country. From the moment he was born, Carson Clark, now 10, has literally seen and experienced nature through a child’s eye. An award-winning nature photographer at age six, Carson will share his journey into the world of nature photography. He will show how we can all enjoy nature photography even more. Carson will also tell how he and his dad developed the storyline for his first book, The Adventures of Buddy Beaver.
Preceding Carson’s program, Carson’s dad – Jim Clark – will present “Spirit of Place – Portraits of Life”. The program is a visual and musical journey through the natural wonders of three locations in and near Loudoun County. Using his photography and the music of composers Gary Malkin, Gary Stribling and Brian Keane, Jim will show us the beauty and wonder of the seasonal nature that can experienced nearby.
After the program, there will be a book –signing. |

Monthly Meeting - Field Trip |
Our April monthly meeting is a field trip to Virginius Island near Harper's Ferry, WV. |
The group will be meeting at the parking lot just on the Harper's Ferry side of the Shenandoah River, just off of Shenandoah street. See the link to the right. Try to be there to leave the parking area at 7PM. |

Annual Potluck Dinner |
Our annual potluck dinner will be at the Men's Club in Shepherdstown, WV. We will start around 7PM. Please bring a side dish or dessert to share. Drinks, chicken and utensils will be provided by PVNP. We will be viewing a Nature video called Christmas in Yellowstone that features Tom Murphy a wildlife photographer from Montana. He camps out in Yellowstone in the winter without a real tent!!! |

Members are encouraged to wonder the grounds in groups so that more experienced photographers can help those with questions. We will meeting at the main entrance area. Monthly Meeting We are back to Friday evening! |
Our monthly meeting for August will include details about the Arts and Humanities Allience of Jefferson County and their involvement in an exhibit of your work. They are looking for images of the Potomac River Basin area with a focus on the natural heritage and culture heritage of the 1750-1850 era. More info will also be coming in an email.

PVNP Potluck Dinner |
Our January meeting will be a potluck, conducted on the second floor of the War Memorial Building in Shepherdstown (next to the library and across the street from Shepherd University's stately McMurran Hall). The date is Friday, January 25th. Start time is 6:30 PM. We'll have a show and share, along with a video and/or special program. This meeting was well attended last year and we hope you'll be able to participate!
Donna Hershberger is once again coordinating the potluck and asked me to pass along the following information:
PVNP members and their families are welcome. PVNP will provide the main dish, drinks, plates, cups, napkins and utensils. We ask that each family bring a dish to share...side or dessert.
Please email donna at donnahershberger@earthlink.net if you plan to attend. If you find at the last minute that you can come and had not emailed, that is okay. We are just trying to get an idea of attendance (few vs many) so that we know how much food and drink to get. Please also feel free to email with any questions. |

NOTICE - Year end photo competition is being postponed until the combined November December meeting.
In an effort to get more participation among our members we have moved the year end competition to the December 7th meeting.
For the October meeting we will have a program that will involve a documentary video about Ansel Adams followed by Q&A. |

There are a number of venues in the Gardens ranging from formal gardens like the Rose Garden to the Wings of Fancy live butterfly exhibit in the Conservatory. There are many other shooting opportunities including birds & other critters, scenics, gardenscapes, abstracts of flora and structures, and macro photography of the flora and fauna of the gardens. |
